Studio MAPPA is always in the news due to a variety of issues that arise in the production house, and another incident occurred this afternoon. Sunghoo Park, the well-known Japanese director who worked on the anime television series and film adaptation of Jujutsu Kaisen, has finally left Studio MAPPA.
Sunghoo Park launched a new animation studio called ‘E&H Production’ in March 2021. The company just issued recruitment details, stating that they are searching for some exceptional talent in the anime sector. Park, as the company’s CEO, will transfer to the new studio, leaving his old one behind.
According to the firm information, there are a total of 8 employees and they are looking for new talent. The firm seeks to shoot in the sectors of gaming engines, VR, and real shooting in order to challenge original animation works and innovative production processes that are not limited to traditional animation production.
Sunghoo Park was recently connected with Studio MAPPA for a long time and assisted in many of their excellent projects such as Kakegurui, The God Of Highschool, Yuri!!! On Ice, Zombie Land Saga, and Jujutsu Kaisen. He did, however, work as a freelancer in the studio and was not a full-time employee.
Now that Sunghoo Park has left MAPPA’s animation studio, fans are concerned about the future of the Jujutsu Kaisen brand, as Park helmed both the TV and movie versions of the series. However, no confirmation has been issued by MAPPA as of yet.
Still, the truth remains that Sunghoo Park will relocate to his new animation company and assist the new workers there. Whether he will serve as the director of Jujutsu Kaisen or not has yet to be determined, but fans are hoping that Park will return for the series’ second season as well.
